Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers episode 29 The green candle, Part 1 review
It's the end of the green ranger. While Tommy was under the control of Rita he touched some magic wax from the gamma-tri system, Rita made a candle from it, and once it's completely melted Tommy will lose the green ranger's powers and they will be Rita's, making her unstoppable.
Okay, how long did it take Rita to make this candle, Tommy was freed from her spell 13 episodes ago, why didn't she do it then?
That aside it's a good plan and shows forethought from Rita she had Tommy touch the wax in case the Rangers saved, either that or I am giving her too much credit.
Okay let's go to the beginning of the episode Tommy and Zack and training and Tommy has trouble focusing because the dance is coming up, he wants to ask Kimberly but is afraid she'll say no. Zack being us says that's not gonna happen everybody knows you and Kim are madly in love with each other. I'm paraphrasing, but that's basically what he said.
Zack tries to show Tommy asking out a girl like isn't that hard, so he put the moves on Angela and she curbs him hard.
Bulk and Skull show up, make fun of Tommy and Zack for not being able to get dates, the formers ending up, as usual, and embarrass themselves.
Later Tommy tries to ask Kimberly out but putties attack, then Goldar shows up and kidnaps Tommy, taking him to the dark dimension. Long time no see dark dimension, also this is at least Tommy's third time being kidnapped.
The candle is lit and Goldar tells Tommy he will lose his powers. Meanwhile, Rita has Finster make a monster The Cylclops.
At the command center is Kimberly is panicking, afraid Rita will try to turn him. She isn't wrong Goldar said Tommy could keep his powers if he swore loyalty to Rita, but of course Tommy no way.
But right now Tommy is the Rangers biggest problem the Dragonzord is going on a rampage, the Rangers think Rita has control of it, but Zordon detects that Dragonzord is a fake.
The Rangers morph fight putties and Goldar, then call zords and form Megazord to battle the faux Dragonzord.
In the dark dimension, Tommy takes Goldar's sword and frees himself from the dimension. He tries to call the real Dragonzord but his powers beginning to fade. Once he finally summons the Dragonzord, it beat the fake which turns out to be The Cyclops, who disappears.
Tommy says he a Ranger til' the end, and Rita gloats his end is soon.
The episode ends with Zordon tells the Rangers everything I said in the first paraphrase and Tommy lamenting the green ranger is finished.
This was good, these multi-parters already are fun and deliver tension especially this one, with the prospect of Tommy losing his powers to Rita.
I like how close we are to the romantic payoff of Tommy asks Kimberly out. They've done a good job of building a "potential" relationship for them. But the dance and asking dates will probably be on the back burner with the situation going on.
One last thing I love that the foot soldiers are actually trouble for the Rangers. I know it's because they don't morph as soon as they in later seasons, but it shows the putties are beatable but still a threat. Well, I guess that covers everything, so see you next time for Part ✌(That's for 2 and bye, I'm so clever😸).

Ah! Thanks, I missed this episode because my exam was on and never got a chance to find it anywhere else because the use of internet at that time was minimal. It’s good how everything is easily available online now days. I was able to line up some great shows by Andy Yeatman for my kids.
